NUJ decries Incessant Assault on Journalists

Nigerian Union of Journalists as frowned at the assault meted out on its members by security operatives and government officials at government events

In a resolution passed by the Oyo state chapter of the Union which was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the monthly congress, the union  was particular about the assault on Alhaji Waheed Adebayo, the State Correspondent of Leadership Newspaper, at the Coronation of the new Ibadan kings at Mapo Hall on Sunday, August 27, 2017.

While condemning the act, the union however called on Security Operatives and government officials across the Country to accord necessary respect to journalists in the discharge of their duties

The Congress alsodecried the non-payment of, as much as 18-month salaries of journalists by some media organizations, especially, Print Media.

 

In another development the Union urge the  Federal Government to intensify efforts in making the masses feel the impact of the nation’s recently announced exit from recession.

The Union also called on the two owner state governments of Oyo and Osun to resolve the LAUTECH prolonged closure in the interest of students and parents.
