Alhaji Ademola Alli (AWA), a notable aspirant for the Oyo Central Senatorial seat, has congratulated Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja on his formal nomination by the Olubadan‑in‑Council as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland .

This is contained in a congratulatory message he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Ibadan.

The news followed the completion of the statutory 21‑day mourning period for the late 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025.

Alli recalled that the Olubadan‑in‑Council by the Balogun, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola and seconded by Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole concurred unanimously on Ladoja’s elevation during a meeting held at the Oke‑Aremo palace on Monday.

He described the nomination as a momentous milestone for Ibadan traditional leadership and continuity.

The Senatorial hopeful paid tribute to the late Oba Olakulehin, recognising his brief reign and dedicated service to Ibadanland.

Alli expressed solidarity with the royal family and the Olubadan‑in‑Council, while affirming that Ladoja’s nomination marks an opportunity for healing and renewal in the ancient city.

He expressed confidence in Oba Rashidi Ladoja’s distinguished public record, wealth of experience and deep-rooted connection with Ibadan as a former governor and senator.

Alli said that Ladoja’s blend of traditional authority and modern governance credentials positions him well to lead Ibadan into a new era.

He called on all Ibadan indigenes and residents to unite behind the new traditional ruler, urging communal harmony across ethnic and interest divides.
