Nollywood Actress Aunty Ajara Is Dead

Nollywood actress Ajara Lasisi, popularly known as Aunty Ajara, has passed away.

The actress reportedly died in the early hours of Thursday while receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

Confirming her death in a video shared on social media, her elder brother, Rilwan Lasisi, said doctors informed the family that Aunty Ajara died overnight.

“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara. She passed on overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness,” he said.

The family expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians and well-wishers across the world who supported the actress during her illness through prayers, encouragement and financial contributions.

They also appealed to the public to stop sending money to the account details earlier shared for her medical care, noting that the funds are no longer required.

Aunty Ajara was known for her roles in Yoruba-language films, where she endeared herself to many fans with her humour and distinctive screen presence.

Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, fans and lovers of Nollywood, who described her death as a painful loss to the industry.
