Nokia will re-launch its popular and resilient 3310 mobile phone

The phone was originally released in 2000 and in many ways beginning the modern age of mobiles.

According to a report by UK Independent , it will be sold as a way of getting lots of battery life in a nearly indestructible body.

The new incarnation of the old 3310 will be sold for just €59 (about N23,000), and so likely be pitched as a reliable second phone to people who fondly remember it the first time around.

The Nokia 3310 was discontinued by its makers in 2005, but it has lived long in our collective memory – which is something the company would now like to exploit.

According to the regularly accurate leaker Evan Blass, a revised 3310 will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of the month. Styled as a “homage”, and coming in at €59 (£50), it is a steal compared with the orignal (£119 in 2000).
