The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has clarified that it did not withdraw from the proposed nationwide protest, as it was not the organizer of the protest

NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, stated that the NLC cannot withdraw from a protest it did not organize. The organizers of the protest are the ones who can decide to pull out or continue with it.

Ajaero in a statement said the NLC has its own internal decision-making processes that it follows before undertaking any industrial actions or protests.

“While the NLC is not the organizer of the protest, it stands in solidarity with the Nigerian people and the issues being raised by the protest organizers.

The NLC however called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to invite the leaders of the protest movement to dialogue on their demands, and advised against the government meeting the widespread anger with brute force.

The NLC urged the federal and state governments to listen to the cries of the Nigerian people and take the necessary actions.
