“My opponent for my title match was decided today, Stay tuned for a
new update ALHAMDULILLAH! it is a plan of almighty Allah, Thanks so much to all my team, manager, coach, and my colleagues”

Recall that on January 2023, Scorpion dominated headlines in the Japanese boxing circle as he recorded a first-round knockout in a boxing show tagged: Okinawa Mayhem, where he thrashed Manat Sopato from Thailand.

Oyekola became famous when the 24-year-old boxer won the World Boxing Federation (WBF) International Super Featherweight Championship, held in Ibadan, Oyo State on December 27, 2020.

He then relocated from Nigeria to Japan in 2022 and has continued to dominate headlines in the Japanese boxing circle where he has been undefeated in all fights in Asia at the moment

Oyekola’s story is an inspiring one, as he once disclosed in an interview how he suffered many rejections, disappointments, and shame in life before he was lucky to be raised and trained in the city of Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State while working as an “Okada rider” by his promoter and manager, Mr. Sola Ayodele.

He also explained how he once considered leaving the boxing profession because of the difficulty he encountered at the amateur level stating that he had to beg to survive.

His story has continued to inspire a lot of young boxers who have made him their role model in Oyo state and Nigeria as a whole.
