The Nigeria Police Force has congratulated retired Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai A. Owoseni, on his conferment as Atunluse-Ilu Adini of Oyo State by the Chief Imam of Ibadan and the League of Imams and Alfas of Oyo State.
The honour was bestowed on Owoseni in recognition of his decades of service to Nigeria, his contributions to peace and security, and his commitment to community development and integrity.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police described the honour as a fitting acknowledgment of Owoseni’s exemplary leadership and dedication to public service.
Owoseni served in the Nigeria Police Force for over 35 years, rising to the rank of Commissioner of Police. During his career, he held key leadership positions across several state commands and departments, including the Lagos and Benue State Commands, the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), and the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
He also represented Nigeria in international peacekeeping missions under the United Nations, serving in Darfur, Sudan, and Angola, where he provided strategic support on policing, security sector reforms and transitional operations.
An accomplished scholar, Owoseni holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies with a focus on Security Sector Management from the University of Ibadan, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of Benin. He has also undertaken several international professional trainings in security, emergency management and conflict resolution.
Since retiring from active police service, he has continued to play prominent roles in security and public policy. He currently serves as Special Adviser on Security and Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund, a security consultant to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Principal Partner at HK-George Consults Limited, and founder of the Ayesha-Nihinlola Foundation, which supports educational and social initiatives for vulnerable groups.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, wished the retired police chief continued good health, fulfilment and sustained impact in service to Oyo State and the nation.
