The minister said  the increase from 4m to 7million is occasioned by  rise in the number of rice farmers which moves from 5m  to 7.2m

 

He said the increase in rice production has   reduced the level of importation from Thailand an other countries that supply rice to the country

 

The minister maintained that 60 percent of rice consume in Nigeria now are from local manufacturer

 

The anchor  grower’s programme is helpful and as soon as we are through with it, we will also initiates another program that will encourage, cassava orange and  cashew nut production

 

‘ we are gradually diverting from non oil sector
