Governor Sim Fubara on sunday attended the 60th birthday of one of Rivers State’s most vibrant Niger Delta ex-agitators and leaders, Alhaji Asari Dokubo.
Fubara in a post on his X page said the event was a lesson in love and loyalty as the atmosphere exuded conviviality and radiated immense joy.
“I joined several Rivers people and well-meaning Nigerians to celebrate the occasion and to wish for God’s grace upon his life.
“I also used the opportunity to solicit for the support of the people in advancing the frontiers of our dear State, especially as we embark on life touching projects that include the Trans Kalabari road. The project has the capacity to open up the Kalabari area to the world and unlock our tourism and economic potentials on that axis.”
However some Nigerians who are not pleased with the move took to his comment session to vent their displeasure, warning the Governor to stay away from Asari. A tweep @ifudiya wrote; “A governor posting such person on his official handle. River State is yet to get it right when it comes to leadership in government”
@GreatToks wrote “Personally, l mean, to me, l feel this is more of a negative PR than you thought. It belittles your position&Office as the Executive Governor of Rivers State. Yes, you need collaborations especially in the face of the feud between you&oga Wike but it shouldn’t degenerate to Asari
@jamessokafor in his comment said “Dont trust Asari dokubo he is more like Wike same character”
Elvisoparaji @itselvis “See how you’re frolicking and celebrating a known hooligan and proponent mayhem in this country. you downgraded yourself attending his birthday You even had to stand up to make a toast while he sits down. Omo!! True true Na boy boy you be as wike talk”
@oungkpalakofficial also wrote “Politics goes beyond gathering enemy of the other man just to pepper them, if you don’t plot your game well you will go home 2027, Mr Governor standing to toast with Asari is an insult to that office you occupy, I rest my case 😌😒”
Believe @Gabriel1Isaiah wrote :Beware of people that talk too much, they’re not to be trusted. @SimFubaraKSC try to connect with your people but don’t draw then too close. It’s not every invitation that you will honor, send delegation to some. Identify people with dubious character greet them from afar.
On the other side, some netizens also consider the step as a welcome development praising him @EkohEzinwanne wrote “Bros you are doing well. The marathon today to! U to much running an all inclusive governance is an unmatched feet recorded so far. Keep head up high as you are yet to achieve your set goal. Carry on baba 💪🏿
Obifan @michealnwija wrote “Your excellency @SimFubaraKSC you are doing great in building bridges. Whatever it will take to stop the ikwere Hitler is acceptable. Moreover, you need to do more on Human Capital Development. Put money 💰 in the hands of real Rivers people. Rivers youths are hungry.”
