A high-powered delegation from the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, to congratulate him on his recent appointment and commend his legacy of service in public administration.
The delegation was led by Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji, former NAPS President, and included the current President of the NAPS Senate, Distinguished Senator Festus Oyewumi. Other members of the team were Comrade Andrew Ajakpofo, Director of Conflict Resolution and Intervention, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS); Comrade Afolabi Martins, Director of Special Duties, NAPS Senate; Comrade Abdulraman Demola, Director of Online Media, NAPS Senate; and Comrade Sanni Filaokiki, Clerk of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN).
The student leaders commended Bashorun Akinwole’s visionary leadership and commitment to grassroots development, describing his appointment as well-deserved and a source of pride to young Nigerians. They praised his inclusive governance style, noting its impact on both institutional growth and youth empowerment.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Oyewumi expressed admiration for the Chairman’s leadership qualities. “Your appointment is not only merited but serves as an inspiration to many youths across Oyo State and beyond,” he said.
The delegation emphasized the need for greater youth inclusion in governance and advocated stronger partnerships between government agencies and student bodies. They highlighted the importance of policies that promote education, local governance participation, and community development.
In his response, Bashorun Akinwole expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed his dedication to advancing youth development and improving service delivery across local government institutions. He assured the delegation of his openness to future collaborations aimed at enhancing student welfare and participatory governance.
The visit concluded with a group photograph and exchange of goodwill messages, symbolizing mutual respect and a shared commitment to building a better future through youth engagement.
