National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA) Western Zone, has promised to give Governor Makinde necessary technical and moral support for the take off of the propose Ministry of culture and tourism.
The also urged other state governors and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emulate Makinde by separating ministry of culture and tourism from ministry of information.
Governor Makinde had in a news letter issued on Thursday announced his plan to decouple ministry of information,culture and tourism and establish a separate ministry for culture and tourism.
The association described the move by the Governor as a welcome development that will engender positive advancement of creative industry and job creation.
Otunba Babatunde Adesokan, the Zonal Vice President of the association said we are happy that the governor responded to our long time agitatation and as stakeholders in the sector we are ready go work with his Excellency for the actualization of his dream.
Recalled that NANTA have embarked on advocacy for the creation of separate ministry for culture and tourism for almost a decade, apart from sensitization rally, the association has hold several meetings with governor’s adviser on tourism to press further their agitation and exchange ideas
Adesokan in a statement signed by the Zonal PRO Prince Olaleye Ajibade said, the development, though long overdue but as stakeholders, they appreciate the fact that Governor Makinde has wake up to the reality that tourism can boost revenue generation and job creation.
While urging the governor to engage stateholders in the takeoff of the new ministry, they also advise him to engage experienced and committed hand in running the ministry, board, and others department in the tourism Sector for positive results
