Do you have to wine and dine with the governor when LAUTECH students have been out of school since all these days ? Do you have to flex your jaws again with the governor who relish our compromised education and gaze lovingly at the opulent education of his own children abroad ? Where’s the equity and justice ? What is the true representation of NANS ? Oh, no wonder LADOKITES have never for once put their trust in you. I ask, have you ever done anything with an open mind without money ? For all the struggle you’ve engaged in are often at the bottle neck of money. In Fact, you have no concern whether any institution is under-lock as long as you are getting paid by the pay master. But always remember that power is transient.
Back to the main issue, I’m still thinking about what informed the meeting with governor AJIMOBI yesterday by NANS if not for the usual conscientious display of covetousness. The NANS held a meeting with the Governor around 7pm yesterday without carrying any LAUTECH students along to discuss about our dead school. However, if not for the late intervention of the SSA, in person of Afeez Bolaji Repete, who raised eye brawl immediately he noticed the foul play by the NANS, may be any of LAUTECH students wouldn’t have heard about the meeting. But who knows may be the person that was later contacted by the SSA as representative from LAUTECH was able to meet up or had the opportunity to start the meeting with them. This kind of act by the NANS is not only condemnable but portray its leadership in bad image. I don’t want to go further on the report of the whole scene that happened but am a bit worried with the tone at which AJIMOBI frowned on the insistence of Audit. No Audit, no talk on LAUTECH. Well, am yet to know if AJIMOBI had also been informed about the action of the JAC yesterday immediately after their congress to make their No pay, No work official.
Information also emerged that the meeting with the governor yesterday was to build a good relationship with the students across the whole state but unknown to the governor that the power of votes belongs to the electorates. I ask, how many are the NANS cadres in number if Governor AJIMOBI continue to think that his relationship with them will silent the aggrieved hunters ? It’s just high time the ghettos start invading the gated community of the two governors to demand for their national cake, education.
It will be an irony of fate that LAUTECH is being destroyed under the nose of the chancellor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose tenure of 5 years will finish this month. Ever since his investiture as the arrowhead of the school, no or little impact has been felt in spite of his integrity, power, wealth, influence and outstanding record in the society and towards nation building. One may wonder why such a man would be on mute mode at a time like this that needs his intervention. Well, maybe is because the aim of the two wicked governors is to sell the institution to him and change the name to BATUTECH. Ah, Samuel Ladoke Akintola spirit must wake up from the grave now and fight these two governors or send his apology to BABA Awolowo in the grave if his name was the reason why both governors, Tinubu and Osinbanjo had been silent on LAUTECH.
Presently, we don’t know if we should start rejoicing that resumption will be possible in weeks time as we expect the special funds from federal government but at the same time, we are very unhappy about the handling of the situations especially about the non funding of the governing council. Now, Asuu and JAC, after their congress on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively had vowed to continue their strike until government is ready to inject funds, while the government is hell bent on No audit, No pay. But one may wonder why government is capitalizing on auditing which does not fall between 1-50 of the panel recommendations, jettisoned others that are more germane to resolving LAUTECH issue.
A release earlier indicated that governments haven’t sealed an agreement with the KPMG not until recently that the governing council was reconstituted. The KPMG however, has been approved by the new council and has been given a new appointment to do financial audit within two weeks and the report will be submitted to the Visitors who had promised to provide funding as loan upon submition of financial audit report from KPMG. But come to think of it, what happen to the Paris refund and other funds received from the federal governments if the two states is to borrow loan with KPMG audit report ? Your guess is as good as mine.
The issue is not about auditing but sincerity, the government are not sensitive to the plight of people that put them in power. They are toying with the lives of 34,000 students and staff, reasons their children are abroad schooling with our resources. Their mission is to close down LAUTECH and definitely it can never be achieved. Or isn’t it thinkable that the motive behind the establishment of UNIOSUN and the recent official flag off of the Technical University in Ibadan is to mark the death of LAUTECH ? Hmm! It’s not over until it’s over. May LAUTECH rise again !
