NAFDAC has destroyed counterfeit and expired drugs, unwholesome processed food, and substandard products worth ₦4.7 billion in Rivers State. The exercise took place at the Aluu dumpsite in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The destroyed products included substandard medical supplies, unsafe cosmetics, and expired goods seized from manufacturers, importers, and distributors. Voluntarily surrendered items from compliant companies and associations were also part of the destruction.
Among the confiscated items were unregistered cosmetics, imported vegetable oil lacking Vitamin A fortification, and two 40-ft containers of unregistered drugs handed over by the Nigeria Customs Service in Edo State.
NAFDAC reiterates its commitment to safeguarding public health by ensuring only high-quality and safe products reach consumers.
The agency urges stakeholders and the public to report suspicious activities and support regulatory compliance to combat the menace of counterfeit products.
