It is no longer news that Oluseyi Makinde led administration has made a remarkable effort in turning Oyo state to a safe haven. This became more evident as Oyo government yesterday took another bold step by extending her operation light up everywhere even to market places.

You will recall that this project commenced last year 2019 which birthed the new look that major public places like Ojoo, Iwo road and others now wear at night with the installation of high powered street lights as seen everywhere.

While addressing the market women today at Oja Oba market, the Honourable Commissioner for Public works and Transport, Prof. Raphael Afonja, conveyed the goodwill message of His Excellency by giving his assurance that no market in and around Oyo state will be left out of this golden touch.

The countenance of many traders that graced the occasion revealed the great joy in them as they never thought that a good gesture as this could ever visit their market any time soon.

In appreciating the state government, Baale Oja Alagolo said, “this is a welcome development and indeed a confirmation of the fact that we have a governor who has the knowledge of what to do. It is our prayer that God will continue to be with His Excellency to achieve all his plans for a better Oyo state. We are indeed very grateful and lucky to have a proactive governor, he added”

Meanwhile, Oja Oba market, Ibadan is just marking the start of this market innovation as other markets too in no distant time shall be covered and reached.

It is imperative to note that having powered street lights round about the state is a form of security on its own which will not only benefit the community but will also be of great help for market places as this will further strengthen the security of goods and valuables.
