The Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Tourism and Culture, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige has joined other numerous Nigerians to commiserate with the family of the immediate past Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji (Aje Ogunguniso 1) saying Baba would sorely be missed for his great philanthropist gesture.
Hon. Ademola Ige who is the Baameto Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland stated this in a release personally issued shortly after he joined others to observe Fidau Prayer for the 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland, and Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas who joined his ancestor early today at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
Oba Adetunji, 93 passed away in the early hours of this morning at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.
Ige said with the passage of the monarch, Ibadan land has truly lost a great man, a leader per Exellence and a great lover of Ibadan city.
Ige said that personally, late Olubadan was like a father figure to him who always offered him wise counsel long before he became a king.
He added that though Oba Adetunji’s life span on the throne was short, it full of memorable events that the people of Ibadan will remember for a long time to come.
Hon. Ige who extended his condolence message to the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), the Olubadan in Council and indeed the entire sons and daughters in Ibadan over the passage of the revered monarch, prayed Almighty Allah to forgive him his shortcomings and admit him to aljanat fridaus
Oba Adetunji was survived by his wife, Olori Rashidat Ololade Adetunji, Children, grand children and great grand children.
