Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has described the late Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oyo South Senatorial District, Mr. Gbade Ojelabi, as a true party man whose contributions will be missed by the party.
The governor, who expressed his condolences to the immediate family of the deceased and the PDP family in the state, prayed to God to grant repose to his soul.
Makinde, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant (Print Media), Moses Alao, said Ojelabi gave his best for the progress of the party and that his death would leave a huge vacuum in the party, especially as it came at the height of electioneering towards the 2023 general elections.
The governor equally commiserated with the people of Eruwa and the Oyo South Senatorial District PDP, praying the Almighty to grant a repose of his soul.
The party Senatorial Candidate in Oyo South Engineer Joseph Tegbe said it was with rude shock and utter disbelief that he received the news of the death of Hon. Olugbade Ojelabi, the Chairman of PDP in Oyo South Senatorial District and Vice-Chairman of the party in Oyo State.
“His sudden and untimely death is disheartening, sad, unfortunate and
devastating. Indeed, it is a personal loss to me, as Hon. Ojelabi was, until his death, was a very active and committed member of Olasunkanmi Joseph Tegbe Campaign Council.
I must say that his unwavering commitment, unflinching support, wise
counsel and useful advice have helped greatly in the support we have received so far from our people in Oyo South senatorial district,
particularly in Ibarapa land where he hailed from.
I commiserate with the immediate family of Hon. Ojelabi, my brother,
the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, the State
Executive Council of PDP, the entire PDP family, his friends, associates and the entire people of Ibarapa land on the unfortunate loss of our brother, Hon. Ojelabi.
His sudden death has, no doubt, robbed us of his selfless service,
both to the PDP and humanity in general.
I have directed the immediate suspension of all my political engagements and activities of my campaign council for three days as a mark of honour to
the deceased.
It is my prayer that God grants his soul eternal rest and his family
the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
