Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will retain power in the state beyond 2027 and reclaim Nigeria’s presidency in the next general elections.

Makinde made the declaration on Monday at the PDP State Congress held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, where Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro was re-elected as the state chairman and Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke emerged as deputy chairman, alongside 37 other newly elected executive members.

The governor attributed the party’s strength to its commitment to internal democracy and the peaceful conduct of congresses at all levels. He tasked the new executives to work towards ensuring the PDP’s victory from the councillorship to the presidential levels in 2027.

“This exercise is to ensure that the PDP continues to remain in power in Oyo State beyond 2027. The executives that will emerge from this exercise; your mandate is clear — deliver PDP from the presidential to the councillorship position in 2027,” Makinde said.
