Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde on friday named 8.3km Idi ape- Akobo, Ojurin/Odogbo Barracks Olounda Abaa Junction after the immediate past governors of River Nysom Wike.
He said this at the flagging off of road in Ibaadan
The dualized road which is expected to be completed in twelve months cost sum of 9.6 billion naira.
Governor Makinde in his speach said 30 percent of the total cost has already been paid to the contractor to actualize the time frame for the completion of the project.
The dualization of the road according according to the governor would improve the local commercial activities as well as Lagelu local government’s economy which would in turn impact positively on the state’s internally generated revenue.
Makinde reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to the development of the state while also reiterating his resolve to continue to put in place critical infrastructures that would open up the state for economic expansion and big time investors from the both local and global business environment.
Makinde who noted that some properties would be affected because of the project assured that affected property owners would be promptly compensated while soliciting support and cooperation from the people resident in the area.
Lagelu local government chairman, Kazeem Gbadamosi in his welcome address described the project as historic as it marked the first of such since the assumption of the second term of Governor Makinde.
He said the road construction would ease the movement of goods and services of people in the neighborhood as well as directly impact the political, socio-economy, and commercial life of residents of the local government.
He added that the local government would find the project at the standard of the state assuring that his administration will double its efforts to support local government to enable them to carry out more projects under Omititun 2.0.
The contractor handling the project Samchase Nigeria Ltd. assured of quality delivery and standaprojectsect that would provide value for every penny expended on the project.
Other political stalwarts, traditional and community leaders in their separate goodwill messages expressed their joy and the prospect of the road construction to attract rapid development and improved internally generated revenue for the local government and by extension the state
