The Oyo state House of Assembly has approved the request from the Oyo State Government for the appointment of twelve Special Advisers.
The approval was given at the first Oyo House plenary after inauguration of the ninth Oyo State House of Assembly presided over by the Speaker ,Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
The House noted that since assumption of duty, Governor Seyi Makinde had only made few appointments, called for urgent need to grant approval of the Special Advisers.
The lawmakers therefore maintained that the twelve Special Advisers will support the Governor and bring their political and administrative experience to bear in the task of running the state.
The Lawmakers , however advised Engr. Makinde to appoint people with good track records and impeccable character who will help actualise his dream of a better Oyo state.
The 9th Oyo State House of Assembly at the plenary has also constituted a committee headed by the Deputy Speaker ,Hon. Abiodun Fadeyi to look into the incessant gang violence which has rocked some parts of Ibadan.
The House announced the ad-hoc committee ,while reacting to a Matter of Urgent Public Importance presented by the Deputy Chief Whip , Hon. Yusuf Adebisi, representing Ibadan South West 1 on the recent disturbance at Idi Arere and some adjoining neighborhoods in Ibadan which led to the death of one person, burning and looting of properties in the area.
The House further urged the office of the Special Adviser to the Oyo state Governor on security to deploy police patrol vehicles to Idi Arere and other flashpoints , called the Nigeria Police Force to see to the possibility of erecting a police station in the area to curb the menace and activities of hoodlums and touts .
There was also a motion, appealing to Governor Seyi Makinde to ensure resumption and continuation of work on all the ongoing road rehabilitation projects across the state to ensure their completion .
The House, after the deliberation on the motion brought by Hon. Akeem Mustapha, representing Kajola state constituency directed the officials of the Ministry of Works and Transport in Oyo state to forward to the Assembly within two weeks , the situation report on state of works and terms of contract for the projects across the state.
The ninth OYHA has also frowned at students roaming the streets during school hours and has charged relevant stakeholders and agencies including TESCOM,SUBEB and the Ministry of Education to help put an end to this ugly trend .
While Commending the Oyo state Governor for abolishing payment of school fees in the state, the legislators said there was no justifiable reasoning for any student to be roaming the streets during the hour.
