Arewa Ogunlowo Oluwatoyin Mabel a 400L Crop and Environmental Protection student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso who represented the Masifa Community of Ogbomoso has emerged the 3rd Arewa Ogbomoso Ajilete, at the 3rd grand finale of the pageant which held at the prestigious Crystal Spring Auditorium in Ogbomoso.
The event had in attendance the crème de la crème in Ogbomoso land in attendance, amongst whom is CP Dejo Oyelowo former Commissioner for works the NPF, Hon. Mulikat Adeola Akande, former majority leader, HoR, Mrs Adekunle wife of the Permanent Secretary General Service Office OSGF, Mr. Banji Ojo Head Consumer Protection and Advocacy Nigeria Communications Commission Abuja, others are Mrs. Ruth Adeyinka, Social Secretary OCF, Barr A B Ojo, Prince Debo Gbadebo, Vice President Nigeria Chambers of Commerce Oyo state branch, Mr Bayo Egunbiyi, CEO LSG Hotel. Also in attendance were Mrs. Janet Dare Williams, Mrs. Bolanle Ladeji, Mrs. Victoria Alamu, Dr.& Mrs Wole Akintonde, Engr. Idowu Adeyi, among others the event also had in attendance beauty queens.
Out of 20 ladies who made it to the auditions, Six made it to the finals and participated in a keenly contested contest, the panel of judges which include Queen Amusat Eniola Christabel Miss Ideal ECOWAS 2017 and convener of Face of Western Nigeria, Queen Olanike Alabi Miss Oyo state 2017 and Remmybells, Lautech SUG social director, adjudged Miss Oluwatoyin winner of the 3rd Arewa Ogbomoso Cultural Beauty Pageant, Miss Oluwatunmise a 300L Physics Student of Lautech emerged as the first runner up while Arewa Adedolapo a final year student of English Education Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago Iwoye, who represented Asani Community of ogbomoso land emerged as the second runner up, Arewa Salami Bimbo, Arewa Akano Blessing & Arewa Shonibare Ireti came 3rd, 4th and 5th runners up respectively.
Some of the most memorable moments of the evening were the launch of the “Support the Girl Child Education Campaign”, an initiative aimed at getting more girls back to school, live performance by fast rising Ilorin/Ogbomoso based Tungba/Highlife singer Bobby & ace Ogbomoso born Apala musician Yomi Apala who thrilled guests to sonorous tungba and apala music.
Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of Awards to exemplary individuals and corporate organizations who have contributed immensely to the social cultural, political, and economic development of Ogbomoso land in their private or official capacities. Mr. Ezekiel Okeniyi a retired Deputy Controller General of Custom was awarded the 2018 Ogbomoso Man of the year other awardees included Mr. Banji Ojo and Mrs. Janet Dare-Williams who were awarded distinguished Role Models of the year (male & female category respectively), the Ogbomoso First Group Initiative was also recognized and giving Community Development Award, while Prince Debo Gbadebo and Mrs. Ruth Adeyinka were both Awarded Distinguished Exemplary Individuals of the year (male & female respectively) .
In his remarks, the Coordinator of Ogbomoso Lifters ‘Seun Ogunbiyi expressed excitement at the turn out of distinguished sons and daughters of Ogbomoso who graced the event, he said the event is aimed at espousing and showcasing the rich cultural ethos of the Ogbomoso’s, promote selfless service among young ladies, showcase the worth of true intrinsic beauty, elegance and intelligence, and show to the world how the African culture celebrates beautiful women with brains and brawns without undermining them, bringing out only the best in them.
He said awards were introduced into the Pageant this year to celebrate exemplary individuals and corporate organizations who have contributed immensely to the social cultural, political, and economic development of Ogbomoso land in their private or official capacities
While thanking all those who supported the event and made it an epoch one, he expressed the optimism that 2019 will be bigger and better as the organizers are ready to extend the scope of the event
