Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, has been urged to pay an inspection visit to the Airport-Ajia-Odeyale road construction site before commissioning it.

Speaking with journalists, residents alleged that there are some bad potions on the Odeyale-Ajia part of the project.

Mr Joseph Akintomide, who spoke on behalf of concerned residents explained that the road, which has not been handed over to the government for commissioning, already has some portions of the road allegedly going bad.

“As you can see, some parts of the road are going bad already, particularly Odeyale to Ajia along Egbeda. The quality of the road which construction work started only last year is very poor, we believe the Oyo State Government should pay serious attention to the work being done on the road.

“While we appreciate the effort of governor Seyi Makinde-led administration at putting things in the right perspective as far as infrastructure development in the state is concerned, we see the work by the contractor handling the Odeyale-Ajia road project as an attempt to thwart the effort.

“We, therefore, call on the governor to as a matter of urgency pay an inspection visit to the site of the road project so that he can see for himself what we are talking about. It is our belief that if the project is done effectively, the governor would take the glory and if it did otherwise, he would surely receive backlash despite the fact that he was not the contractor who did the job,” Akintomide noted.
