Traditional rulers, family heads (Mogajis), Baales, and Central Council of Ibadan Indigiens (CCII) has resolved that henceforth, process for issuing Local Government Identification Certificate in all the eleven local government in Ibadanland must include signatories from them with approval by the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
They said either a Mogaji, Baale, Royal Highness and Traditional leaders must sign before such certificate can be issue by any local government officials.
A statement jointly issued by President of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori and Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade after a meeting held at Ibadan House, Oke-Aremo stated that this will checkmate non-indigiens from collecting Local Government Identification in Ibadanland.
At the meeting was the representative of family heads (Mogajis) in Ibadanland, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, President-General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigiens (CCII), Chief Niyi Ajewole, Representive of Ibadan Baale, Baale F.B Ige, representive of Royal Highness, Oniladutan of Ladutan in Ona-ara local government, and Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade among others.
The step, according to them become necessary to curb issuance of Local Government Identification Certificate to non-Indigenes at the expense of original Ibadan sons and daughters.
The statement alleged that some officials of local government in Ibadanland have turn Local Government Identification Certificate issuance to money making by issuing it to non-Indigenes.
“They issue it once money exchange hands, and this is disenfranchising millions of Ibadan Indigenes who are original Indigenes.”
“Local government identification has become pure water in all eleven local governments across Ibadan, local government officials don’t usually confirm indigenship of those seeking for it before giving it to them.”
“We want to stop some unscrupulous people at the local governments perpetrating this evil.”
