A group Lens for Good, on Thursday held an empowerment programme for young Nigerians who are content creators to learn and earn through mentoship and grants equipment for shaping Nigeria’s narrative through positive storytelling.
The Ibadan edition is one of the series residents of the Pacesetter State are to benefit from immensely.
Nosa Asemota, the Special Assistant on visual communication and personal Photographer to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who’s the owner of Lens for Good initiative said he conceptualised the idea to breach barriers among accomplished professionals and upcoming ones in the field and set to empower over 5000 creative content creators to broaden and brighten the future of Oyo state and Nigeria as a whole.
“The ultimate aim is to breach the barriers between accomplished professionals and up coming ones in the field of content creation. Especially for content creators , Photographers, videographers,visual storytellers and others to start evolving with our local stories for no one can tell our tales better than ourselves,”
“Great countries of the world have their negative sides but we don’t get to know those until you go abroad to see for yourself.” Nosa stated.
The Executive Adviser on Youths and Sports to Governor Seyi Makinde, Seun Fakorede (MNSE), who was a Guest Speaker did the lightning talk on “Global impact, local stories: The role of creatives in shaping the state’s perception.”
Fakorede who is also the initiator of Home Advantage Africa and who has always been pushing local stories of the state at every opportunity enjoined creators to always be deliberate at telling “our local stories,” charging the gathering to sharpen their minds to conquering their localities.
The event was anchored by Deji Onadeko and held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, provided an ample opportunities for participants to connect with incredible mentors in the creative industry and gain access to 150 million naira in equipment grants.
The group assured it would take the initiative round the country.
Among the panelists were Ayo Adeagbo, Pamilerin, Hauwa, ÀdeDayo Ayoade and Miss Tenie. Others are Bayo Omoboriowo the personal Photographer to former President Muhammadu Buhari, Ayo Extreme personal Photographer to the Speaker of the 9th Assembly Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Nora Awolowo, Niyi Fagbemi and Pelxie .
