Abdulrahmon Fehintola, a contingent of the Taekwondo team of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH),Ogbomoso, Oyo State will fly Nigerian flag at the World Universities games holding between July 28 and August 8, 2023.
The LAUTECH Taekwondo team had prepared hard for the feat culminating in their qualification for NUGA World University Games Trial at University of Benin.
The trial, described as both intense and laborious witnessed the athletes competing with the Gold medalist of their weight categories and the national record holders .
At the end of the trial, Adabanija Toyeeb -68kg feather weight male and Abdulrraheem Naeemat -46kg Fin weight female narrowly lost in final to National Sport Festival Medalist of their weight categories and failed to secure slots to represent Nigeria at the forthcoming World University Games in China.
However, Fehintola Abdulrahmon will be the only LAUTECH student carrying the flag of Nigeria at the world universities games enlivened the University’s spirit as the acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu, told the Institution’s acting Director of Sports, Mrs. Dorcas Olaosebikan, to keep working on the team for subsequent challenges
