Every day, I wake up to the nightmarish quagmire of hopelessness as a result of lack of thought of those at the helms of affair in both oyo and Osun states, whose children are far tucked away in the comfort zone of ivy league education in western capitals.

The sadness that creeps in is fueled and given fleshed by the tortured thought of a blissful future that beckons teasingly at other undergraduates from other universities in the country. As some undergraduates, especially the medical students are preparing for their houseman ship, the lot of medical students at LAUTECH are forebodingly pathetic as they can not tell when it will be their own time for houseman ship.

LAUTECH students’ career are not only being put on hold but the future seems to be lopsided. Obviously, the countless number of students are now into anti-social, counter-cultural activities such as sexual immorality, cyber scam, pool betting, unnecessary gossips, watching of films, reading comic materials for entertainment purposes rather than their books.

In Fact, some are beginning to become a security threat in the society as a result of frustration. Or what will you expect from a student who have been kept out of school for some months? What kind of training are you giving them if not to become an expert terrorist ? Yes, an expert one due to the technological orientation. I’ve heard of a student saying unholy things due to frustration. You could imagine his aim towards the oppressors if given a gun. I hope our leaders will do the needful now before the students’ frustration get out of hands.

Now that a student also lost his life today, my blood pressure is rising than normal. I just hope at the end, I won’t become a victim. Argh, to say suicidal tendency wells up in us every now and then is to state the obvious.

May LAUTECH rise again !
