The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has debunked a recent report by Sahara Reporters alleging that suspected herders raided students’ off-campus hostels and killed two individuals.

An online medium reports that some men suspected to be herdsmen break into some private hostels around Stadium area on Monday killing two individual and stealing their valuables

In a statement addressing the publication, the university described the report as false and misleading, stating that no student has been killed in recent times.

While acknowledging incidents of armed robbery in some student-populated areas, the management assured that security measures were being intensified.

“The university authority is collaborating with security agencies and local government authorities to ensure regular patrols in the affected areas,” the statement read.

The university also noted that no arrests have been made so far to determine the identity or ethnicity of the perpetrators. It, therefore, condemned the report as irresponsible journalism, urging media outlets to verify information before publication.
