We are devastated, confused, and don’t know what to do again. No help is coming from anywhere, we’ve registered our displeasure through many peaceful protest but yet to start receiving lecture. Not only staff and students have lost their lives, but parent as a result of frustration.
We are aware that in August 30, 2017, the president immediately mobilized personnel and resources to come to the aid of the victims of the flooding that occurred in Benue State which rendered many homeless.
He also noted that he would closely monitor the situation and will be receiving regular updates on the scale of the disaster, as well as the Federal Government’s humanitarian response through his Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu.
We wish to openly inform our president that LAUTECH STUDENTS have not properly be in school since December 2015 (The year PMB was elected) due to non payment of salaries. This has thrown the entire students of over 34,000 men and women into the street, some who only had three month to graduate. We have lost over a year of our academic program. We are appealing to Federal Government to make available any assistance needed to enable the students return back to school without any form of panic, and for the quick resumption of academic activities. We have no time again to waste as the school announced its resumption date on 14th of September, 2017.
Recall that president buhari recently raised his concern over the non payment of salaries while meeting with the traditional rulers, he appealed to the state Governors to pay up.
While we earnestly look forward to the federal government and senate monetary intervention, we also use the medium to remind and implore the two- governors to act fast and fulfill their promise. By now, they ought to have paid the money into the school kitty. Why the delay ?
