Some Alumni members of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH Ogbomoso who are lecturers in the alma mater today resumes work against the directive of the local branch of the union.
ASUU, local branch had in a press statement signed by its chairperson Dr Abiodun Olaniran and Dr. Abegurin said they union is part of the National struggle and not ready to call off the strike untill the strike is over.
But the ALUMNI association resolved that they foreclose any strike action both now and in the future as the institution must regain all its lost glories.
The ALUMNI in a press statement signed by Professor O . S Amuda and DR A . O Ige on behalf of all LAUTECH Alumni Nationwide and in Diaspora noted that they can no longer fold their arms and watch the institution go into oblivion as a result of protracted ASUU strike actions both at local and national thus culminating into about two sessions of non – academic activities.
Furthermore the Association declares that academic activities have resumed at LAUTECH and that henceforth, there shall be uninterrupted academic activities at the institution.
“This is to bring the notice of the public that arising from rigorous deliberations at the several meetings of LAUTECH Alumni, it was resolved hereby that the academic staff that are ALUMNI members of LAUTECH resume academic activities today 3rd January, 2019. The students (stale and fresh) that have fulfilled their financial obligations to the university in terms of payment of tuition fees, are hereby advised to resume to classroom’s from today 3rd of January, 2019 as academic activities have resumed in Earnest”.
The association also implore other colleagues to join hands and salvage the horrible state of LAUTECH.
When contacted ASUU chairperson, Dr Abiodun Olaniran he said he is not aware of the development.
