The Lagos Airport Hotel Limited (LAHL), a flagship establishment in Nigeria’s hospitality industry, and subsidiary of Odu’a investment Company Limited (OICL) has reopened its newly renovated Harold Block Rooms, marking a significant milestone in its transformation agenda.

The unveiling ceremony, held at the hotel’s premises in Ikeja, drew dignitaries, hospitality stakeholders, customers, and top executives of the OICL,
The Group Chairman of OICL, Otunba ‘Bimbo Ashiru In his remark described the refurbishment of 51 rooms and corridors in the Harold Block as “a symbolic renewal and a clear roadmap to the future.”
“This is not just about a reopening,” he emphasized. “It is about legacy, transformation, and our vision of a modern hospitality destination.” Otunba Ashiru traced the hotel’s rich history—from its founding in 1942 by British entrepreneur Mr. Joseph Harold, to its evolution into a fully indigenous asset under the Odu’a Group in 1976, owned collectively by the six southwest states: Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Lagos.
According to him, the Harold Block—named after the original founder—has long served as a key part of the hotel and its renovation signals the start of a broader mixed-use redevelopment plan, combining hospitality, retail, conferencing, and serviced residences.
“This facelift is a strategic refresh of value and experience. The bigger vision is to unlock the full potential of this historic asset for the benefit of our shareholder states,” he added.
Also, Mr. Abdulrahman Yinusa, the Group Managing Director of OICL whose speech was read by Mr. Yemi Ajao, Executive Director and Group Chief Investment and Business Development Officer, reaffirmed this long-term vision, stating that while the full redevelopment plan is underway, interim interventions such as the Harold Block facelift are targeted at delivering quick wins in aesthetics, guest satisfaction, and revenue enhancement.
“This project aligns with our asset optimization and revenue diversification strategy,” Yinusa explained, commending the collaboration between Wemabod Limited, OICL’s Project Enhance Team, and LAHL management for a job well executed.
Prince Oyeleye Fasua, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Lagos Airport Hotel Limited, noted that the renovation reflects “a renewed commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction.” He appreciated the support of the OICL Board and recognized the leadership of both past and current managing directors of Wemabod Limited for their technical expertise and supervision of the project.
“We are repositioning this hotel to be a strong competitor in the modern hospitality industry. Our customers deserve it, and our stakeholders expect it,” he said.
Capping off the ceremony, Mrs. Folashade A. Awe, General Manager of LAHL, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing pride in the transformation achieved.
“Each room has been thoughtfully equipped to deliver comfort, connectivity, and confidence in every stay,” she said. “This milestone represents not just a physical transformation, but a renewed commitment to excellence.”
She extended her appreciation to the Group Chairman, the OICL leadership and board, the LAHL board, and the renovation partners—Wemabod Ltd and AMP Global—for their roles in bringing the vision to life. She also acknowledged the patience and loyalty of guests during the upgrade process.
“To our staff, your dedication and adaptability throughout this transition have been inspiring. This celebration is as much yours as it is ours,” she said.
Guests were later treated to a guided tour of the newly renovated Harold Block, now featuring enhanced aesthetics, modern infrastructure, and a rejuvenated ambiance designed to elevate guest experience.
Located just minutes from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, the Lagos Airport Hotel continues to be a pillar of hospitality in Nigeria’s Southwest, with a renewed ambition to become a world-class destination under the Odu’a Group’s strategic vision.
