The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted accreditation for 10 new academic programs to Kwara State University (KWASU), allowing them to commence in the 2024/2025 academic session.
The approval, communicated via a letter addressed to the National Universities Commission. vice -Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, and signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, was based on the successful outcome of a resource verification exercise conducted by NUC panels.
In a statement by the Acting Director of University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, the newly approved programs include:
1. B.Sc. Estate Management
2. B.Sc. Geography
3. B.Sc. Urban and Regional Planning
4. B.Sc. Mining Engineering
5. B.Sc. Marketing
6. B.Sc. Sociology
7. B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies
8. B.Sc. Physiology
9. B.Sc. Human Anatomy
10. B.Sc. Cyber Security
The letter, dated December 10, 2024, stipulated that the programs are to run on a full-time basis. The University was also advised to ensure the availability of adequate human and material resources to sustain and grow the approved programs.
Reacting to the development, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh expressed gratitude for the accreditation, describing it as a testament to KWASU’s preparedness to deliver quality education. He acknowledged the collective effort of the University staff in achieving this milestone and emphasized the institution’s commitment to producing graduates capable of making significant societal contributions.
With this addition, KWASU now offers 80 undergraduate programs, marking a significant step in its mission to expand academic opportunities and foster innovative learning.
