In a continued effort to combat violent and organized crimes across the country, the Nigeria Police Force has intensified its operational strategies, leading to significant breakthroughs in internal security.

A recent operation on February 14, 2025, saw police operatives from the Kebbi State Command engage armed kidnappers who had invaded Gobiraje Village in Suru Local Government Area, abducting a 60-year-old man, Umaru Bawa.

The operatives trailed the suspects to Tundafari Forest in the Dakingari area, engaging them in a fierce gun battle. Four kidnappers were neutralized, one was arrested with fatal injuries, and the victim was successfully rescued unharmed. Additionally, security personnel recovered ₦3 million, which had already been paid as ransom.

In another successful operation on February 8, 2025, police operatives in Imo State, in collaboration with other security agencies, launched a tactical raid on an IPOB/ESN terrorist camp in Ezioha Mbaitolu, Umuele Umuaka Njaba LGA. The operation resulted in the neutralization of two key figures within the terrorist group, the dislodgement of their camp, and the recovery of seven AK-47 rifles, 13 pump-action guns, and hundreds of assorted live ammunition.

Following this, on February 9, 2025, the police extended their operation to Nkwukwo Forest in Mbaitoli LGA, near the border with Ubachima Forest in Awomama Oru West LGA, Imo State. There, operatives intercepted a group of armed terrorists who opened fire upon sighting them. In the ensuing exchange, three terrorist kingpins were neutralized, while two AK-47 rifles, a pump-action gun, 36 rounds of live ammunition, four motorcycles, and various criminal charms were recovered.
