Yoruba Youth Council ,YYC has describe the move by South West Governor to Convey a security summit to find solution to the security challenges in the region as a timely and welcome development
YYC also appeal to the state governors not to politicise the decision but ensure all stakeholders are involved for effective deliberation and implementation in other to achieve lasting solution on the matter
According to a statement signed by President of the association Eric Oluwole, the state of security in yorubaland is of great concern to everybody and we should all be proactive in tackling the menace of kidnapping and Killing of people on the highways and their farms by bandits and unscrupulous blood sucking demons in human skin.
” Our forefathers never shy away from their duties of protecting their territory against invasion from unwanted and destructive enemies, they did all within their power to bequeath a peaceful and secure region to us, what are we going leaving for the coming generations?.”
” Yorubaland should not be in the hand of strangers, we should not be afraid to go to our farms and market any time of the day without fear of being attacked or kidnapped by mauraders in the name of doing business on our soil, the time is now ”
The statement reads further that,” traditional security operatives including OPC, local vigilante groups and others should be involved for effective polici g of our community and neigbourhood.”
While congratulating the governor of Ekiti state Dr Kayode Fayemi and Ondo state counterpart, Arakunrin Akeredolu Rotimi on their emergence as Chairman Nigeria’ s Governors Forum NGF and South West Governors Forum respectively YYC urge them to ensure that region benefitted from their position.
