The outgoing resident electoral commission REC in Oyo state Bar Mutiu Agboke has said the independent National Electoral Commission INEC will prosecute people suspected vote buyers that were arrested during Ekiti election.
Agboke while briefing journalists in Ibadan said the commission is working with the Economic Financial Crimes Commission EFCC to ensure prosecution of those arrested and that proxess will commence as soon as the EFCC completes its investigations
Agboke who dispel the media reports that the election was heavily monitized said though such cannot be ruled out but it wasn’t as much as the it is being projected in the media.
Recalled that the EFCC during the election arrested persons suspected to be engaged in vote-buying in the ongoing Ekiti State governorship poll
The suspects were reported to have been caught with monies allegedly used for vote-buying.
He added that INEC has created another 1607 aditional polling unit in the state while 753,044 card are yet to collected by electorates.
Agboke also hinted that card readers and incident form have been replaced with Bimodal Voters Accreditation System ( BVAS) for the purpose of accreditation, verification abd uploading of results from polling Units
