INEC Mandates Electoral Officers to Monitor SDP Congresses

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has mandated all its electoral officers to monitor the Social Democratic Party(SDP) Ward and  Local government congresses slated for Saturday June 30 and Monday, July, 2 respectively.

INEC handed down the directive in a letter with reference number INEC/OS/SDP/012/11 dated 27/06/2018 and signed by Folake Amal Agboola, HOD, EPM, for Resident Electoral Commissioner.

 

Part of the letter reads thus, ” I have the instruction of the Honourable Resident Electoral Commissioner to inform that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has notified the Commission of its intention to hold ward and Local government Congresses as scheduled below.

1) Ward Congress, Saturday, June, 30th, 2018. at the ward party headquarters . 2) Local Government congress, Monday, 2nd July, 2018 at the local government party headquarters”

In the letter titled ” Notice of Social Democratic Party (SDP)  Congress, INEC asked the electoral officers “to monitor the congresses and turn in” their reports the following day after the conduct of each of the congresses.

“You are expected to monitor the congresses and turn in your report latest, the following day after the conduct of each of these congresses to enable the state office transmit same to the national headquarters of the Commission”
