The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that the petition to recall the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District has met a key requirement, as the contact details of the petitioners’ representatives have now been provided.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, and signed by INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information & Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, the Commission stated that it had officially notified the affected Senator, the Senate’s presiding officer, and published the notice on its website.

INEC further disclosed that the next step in the recall process is to scrutinize the list of signatories submitted by the petitioners. The Commission will verify whether the petition is supported by more than 50% of the registered voters in the constituency.

The outcome of this verification will determine the next steps in the recall process. INEC reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the process remains open and transparent.
