Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Monday agog as the Ibadan-born business mogul and philanthropist, Engr. Dotun Sanusi donated electric transformers to communities in Ona-Ara local government.
Sanusi said the rationale behind the donation was to complement the Omituntun 2.0 of governor Seyi Makinde administration in Oyo state.
He thank governor Seyi Makinde for commissioning of the electric transformer, urging other well meaning Nigerians to also contribute their quota towards the progress and development of the state.
A statement by Sanusi, owner of Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan said provision of social amenities for the people in Ona Ara Local Government area of the State was part of his contributions towards the betterment of peoples life in the area.
According to him, the state government cannot do it alone, hence the needs for those have the privileged like him to join hands with the governor to move the state to greater heights.
He said, “I have been rehabilitating a number of roads and providing communities with transformers; the latest being a set of 500KVA and 300KVA respectively. I will do more to improve the quality of lives of our people and more importantly, to complement the Governor’s efforts in making our State a pride of all.”

He is the rave of the moment and indeed the best governor in the current dispensation, in his Omituntun 1.0, he recorded many landmark and unprecedented achievements which culminated in his landslide victory for second term. He needs the support of all and sundry, as an individual, I would continue to support the Governor and in whatever capacity to ensuring accelerated development of our dear State.”
Meanwhile, governor Makinde while speaking at the event said the state would be the first to achieve energy sufficiency in the country since constitutional amendment now gives states power to generate and distribute electricity.
He said, “Now, as Oyo State, we can get into the electricity generation and distribution and we will get into it. So, we will take advantage of the new electricity law in Nigeria, our aspiration is that in the comity of states in Nigeria, Oyo State will be the first to attain energy sufficiency because your Governor is into electrical engineering.”
The governor eulogized Sanusi, urging others to emulate him and contribute to the development of their communities.
“Not only did Engr Dotun Sanusi install the transformers, he also linked a number of communities together. He provided the infrastructure like the cables too.”
“So, on behalf of the government, the people of Oyo State, especially the people of Ona Ara Local Government area, we want to appreciate Engr Sanusi for what he is doing in the local government, communities and the state. We are really proud of him.”
Dignitaries at the event include the deputy governor of the state, Adebayo Lawal; Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi; Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju; and Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, Ademola Babalola, CCII President General Elect, Barr Chief Niyi Ajewole
Others are Alhaji Hamid Gbadamosi, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja, who is the current Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Former Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, and wife of former governor of the state, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja, also graced the occasion.
The royal fathers in attendance included the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Olusola Alao, the Onpetu of Ijeruland, Oba Oladapo Oyediran; and the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Tajudeen Ajibola, who is the Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government Traditional Council.
