Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti State has been selected as the host community for the 8th edition of the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari scheduled for April 6, 2026.
The decision was reached during a strategic engagement between the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development and the Discover Ekiti Tourism Club, organisers of the annual adventure tourism initiative.
The meeting was led by the Director-General of the Bureau, Wale Ojo-Lanre, and attended by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism, Michael Peculiar Ekiran, Director of Administration and Supply, Sunday Ogunjobi, and Senior Tourism Officer, Friday Ochai.
Representing the Discover Ekiti Tourism Club were the Director of Media and Public Relations, Ayodele Ayo-Akande, and the Vice President for Partnership and Collaboration, Ogunleye Samuel.
Organisers said the choice of Ikere-Ekiti highlights the town’s growing prominence as a tourism destination known for its scenic hills, natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
According to them, the hike safari is designed to promote nature exploration, healthy living, eco-tourism awareness and community-based tourism development.
They added that the initiative aligns with the vision of the Ekiti State Government under Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to position the state as a leading eco-tourism destination in Nigeria.
Tourists, hikers, nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers across the country have been invited to participate in the event.
