The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Wednesday received a high-level delegation from the Dubai Police at the Force Headquarters in Abuja
According to a statement by the Force PRO Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the remarkable development marked a significant step towards fostering multi-faceted security cooperation between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
During the meeting, the IGP emphasized the importance of collaboration in ensuring the safety and protection of citizens from both countries, noting that a considerable number of Nigerians live, work, and conduct business in Dubai, while many UAE nationals reside and engage in business activities in Nigeria, and as such enhanced cooperation is essential to safeguard the interests of both nations’ citizens.
As the Chairman of the West African Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO), the IGP highlighted the strategic importance of this visit in strengthening policing partnerships not only between Nigeria and Dubai but also across the West African region, expressing his commitment to leveraging this opportunity to foster improved security collaborations, which will benefit the entire sub-region.
The Dubai Police delegation, led by Brigadier General Adel Ahmad Moosa Sanqoor, Assistant of the General Director of Criminal Investigations, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated their commitment to working closely with the Nigeria Police Force in the various areas of mutual interest, including intelligence sharing, joint training programs, and technological advancements in policing.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to deepen security ties and explore new avenues for cooperation, aimed at enhancing the safety and well-being of citizens in both countries and across the West African region.
