The Igboho Youth Solidarity Forum has called on the Oyo State Government and Oorelope Local Government to look into the payment of the entitlements and allowances of the recently installed Alepata of Igboho, Oba Joel Olalere Olawuwo, Olasorogan IV, the paramount ruler and the permanent Chairman, Oorelope Traditional Council and Permanent member, Oyo state Council of Obas and chiefs.
According to the Chairman of the group,Mr. Gbolagade Simeon, Oba Olawuwo needs to start getting his well deserved entitlements as the constitutional recognized paramount ruler in the local government ever since he ascended the throne of his ancestors a year ago. This seems to be a nut too hard to crack and this indeed baffles their mind that, despite the present day government’s unprecedented achievements in the last one year in office, the denial of the Alepata’s entitlement from both the state and local government is indeed a big dent on the image being portrayed by the present day government as an all inclusive government.
In his words, “the denial of the traditional ruler his entitlements should be taken up by the current Deputy Governor of the state, Engr Rauf Olaniyan, who hails from Igboho.
The king, ever since he was installed on May 15, 2019 and coronated on May 24, 2019, he was only been given his salary only on July 2019 and ever since then, he hasn’t got any other thing from the present day government and till date.
The Alepata of Igboho who was crowned by his Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, The Alaafin of Oyo, is still living in his own house instead of relocating to the Alepata’s Palace located at Obaago area of Igboho has not been put into a habitable shape by the Local Government Authority.
“This indeed is a big slap on the face of Oyo State Government, as the king whose stool is recognized as the superior ruler of Igboho Kingdom, an ancient town in Yoruba land and even by the Supreme Court of Nigeria is being denied of his deserved entitlements till date, he added.”
While corroborating this, the Secretary of the group, Mr Adelere Atanda made it known that the people of Igboho gave their utmost support to the emergence of Governor Seyi Makinde’s aspiration till he was sworn in as the Governor.
The Group urged Governor Seyi Makinde to see to the welfare of the Alapata of Igboho, one of the well recognized king in the region at both the state and the local government levels. He said, “we would want to appeal to all those concerned on the matter to do all that is necessary for the king to get all his entitlements from July 2019 till date. The members of the group and the entire people of Igboho will continue to support the present day government towards restoring the glory of the state.
In the same vein, the group as well shared in the joy of the Governor and his Deputy as they marked a year in office. They commended the government for bringing the 72 Squadron Mobile Police Base to Ago-Are, a part of Oke-ogun toward giving the people of the region in general adequate protection of lives and properties.
Meanwhile, just as the Governor celebrated his first year in office as the governor of Oyo state, on May 29, 2020, the king as well celebrated his first year as the only beaded crown king in the local government who was crowned by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III on May 24, 2020.
