The traditional stakeholders in Ibadanland including the Mogajis, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Monarchs, Baales, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI) and all other prominent sons and daughters of the ancient city has commended the Oyo State House of Assembly for adopting rotational Chairmanship among three notable Paramount Rulers across in the state.
The monarchs include: The Alaafin of Oyo, Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Soun of Ogbomoso.
The stakeholders thanked God almighty and equally appreciates His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1 and members of Olubadan in Council, the Royal Majesties and other Chiefs for their supports and encouragement through out the duration of the stormy struggle.
A statement jointly signed by the President of Ibadan Mogajis, Chief Asimiyu Adepoju Ariori, and ICPI Coordinator, Asiwaju Nurudeen Akinade commend the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Debo Ogundoyin, who was recently recently conffered Most Patriot Friend of Ibadan,(MPFI) by CCII in the just concluded Ibadan week, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Abiodun Fadeyi and all other members from Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Ibarapa, Oke Ogun and Oyo geo political zone.
“They were commended for their sincerity in protecting the historical facts, truth and encouraging terms that is capable of sustaining the unity and peaceful coexistence of the People of the state.”
Recall that the Oyo State House of Assembly this afternoon at the Plenary, adopted the rotational chairmanship of the Council of Obas and Chiefs between Alaafin, Olubadan, and Soun and equally increased membership of the Council from 35 to 41, thereby given opportunity for more traditional rulers to be members of the exalted state Traditional council.
Meanwhile, the resolution of the House did not go down well with the lawmakers from Oyo East and Atiba Constituencies, Hon. Olorunpoto Rahman and Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, respectively who reportedly walked out of the plenary, saying the amendment is disrespect to the still of Alaafin of Oyo.
