The Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TPI) Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi has been showered with encomiums by a group of The Institution’s Alumni who paid him a courtesy call in his office.
The group of students who came together under the aegis of “Ibadan Polywood Connect Worldwide” led by their leader, Asiwaju Olanrewaju Ganiyu disclosed that Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi taught all of them in the last 23 years, pointing out that he was a wonderful teacher who shaped their lives positively.
The group according to a statement signed by the institution’s public Relations Officer Mr. Soladoye Adewole noted that the appointment of Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi as Acting Rector of TPI by The State Governor, Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde lifted their spirits as Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, their mentor, their teacher has always been a good example to all his students.
Noting that Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi was a father figure to all of them during their student days and was also lending helping hands to them after their studentship. They urged him to do his very best to lift the image of TPI and develop the Institution to an enviable level.
They pledged to lend helping hands to the Acting Rector in his efforts to reposition the Institution.
In his response, the Acting Rector, Dr Taiwo Abideen Lasisi thanked all the ex-students for their kind gesture and pledge of support, adding that as a teacher, he believed that it was his responsibility to perpetually mould lives of younger ones.
Also commenting, The Deputy Rector of the Institution, Mrs Olaide Salawu and The Acting Registrar, Mr Joseph Adewumi Ogunjimi described the group as ambassadors of the Institution.
They also appreciated them for recognising the contributions of Dr Lasisi to their development in life, stressing that their kind gesture in terms of appreciations means that the reward and appreciation of teachers is no longer in heaven.
