The Ibadan Compound Peace Initiatives (ICPI), a body that comprises all Ibadan Obas, Traditional Chiefs, Mogajis, Baales and prominent sons and daughters of Ibadanland, under the authority of His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland has demanded for Ministerial appointment from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
They said, by logic, it’s the turn of Ibadanland to produce next Minister aloted to Oyo state for justice, equity , equality and fairness.
A statement signed by ICPI Chairman, Barr. Chief Niyi Ajewole, who is also the CCII President General, ICPI Coordinator, Mogaji (Asiwaju) Nurudeen Akinade and the President, Association of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori stated that Ibadan people gave Tinubu their total support during the 2023 Presidential election, hence the need for Tinubu to appoint their son/daughter as a Minister.
The Statement maintained that it’s the turn of Ibadanland to produce Minister because the duo of former Minister of Communication, Barr. Adebayo Shittu and the immediate past Minister of Youth and Sport Development, Sunday Dare were both from Saki, (Oke Ogun) and Ogbomosho respectively.
According to the statement, Oyo state gave Tinubu highest number of votes out of the six Southwest states during the last Presidential election, saying Ibadan contributed over 60 percent of the total votes Tinubu had in Oyo state.
“Our request and earnest demand for Ministerial position is predicated on the wholehearted loyalty and monolithic support we had and still have for Tinubu.”
The statement however requested for Tinubu’s visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland and his Chiefs, saying the first set of visits of the President in the Southwest was to Oba of Lagos, Awujale of Ijebuland and Alake of Egbaland respectively.
“Ibadan indigenes in top positions in Nigerian Police Force, Nigeria Custom Services and Nigeria Immigration Services who have been stagnated or expected to be posted to a desirable and prosperous positions should be considered and promoted without delay”.
