President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has said he has no hand in the sack of his former colleague, Senator Abbo, dismissing his alleged involvement in the political travail of Senator Elisha Abbo.
Senator Abbo from Adamawa North Senatorial District was sacked by
the Abuja division of the court of Appeal .
The appellate court, in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of Justices, vacated the tribunal judgement that earlier affirmed Abbo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the valid winner of the Senatorial seat.
He pointed accusing fingers to the Senate President for working against him
Abbo claimed himself and four other senators who worked against the emergence of Akpabio as Senate President had been targeted for removal from the Red Chamber through the court.
But in a swift reaction, Honourable Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity to the President of the Senate, denied the involvement of his principal while speaking with Journalists
He said, “It is unfortunate if he actually said that Akpabio was responsible for his removal. That’s the swan song of a man looking for scapegoats.
“The Court of Appeal across the country decides cases based on the provisions of the Electoral Act and evidence advanced by petitioners.
The Senate President has no reason to witch-hunt any of his colleagues.”
