Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has once again declared himself a revolutionary force in the music industry, likening himself to the late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
In an interview with Egungun of Africa, Portable said he believes God deliberately shone His light on him to prevent exploitation by people who wanted to take advantage of his talent.
“I am the newborn Fela; I only don’t want to go to prison or die young,” he said.
The self-proclaimed Ika of Africa also expressed confidence in his rising global recognition, boldly stating that Sony Music will sign him soon.
“I am a hero, I am a star. Any artist that features me will either win a Grammy or get a Headies nomination because I always deliver banger choruses. God has blessed me.”
Speaking on his struggles, Portable claimed that many of those he once called friends turned out to be bad advisers.
Addressing the younger generation, he urged them to fight for their success and remain relentless in their hustle.
“Fight for yourself, hustle o! Them no dey tell person,” he advised.
Portable, known for his controversial remarks and unfiltered personality, continues to make waves in the Nigerian music industry with his unique style and street credibility.
