The media office of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has debunked reports suggesting that he is abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing such claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Atiku Media Office said some news platforms have been spreading unverified information about the former Vice President’s political allegiance.
“We wish to clarify that the so-called news of Atiku defecting to another party is a total fallacy that holds no merit in logic,” the statement read.
It reiterated that Atiku has consistently called for a coalition of opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general election to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and offer Nigerians a better alternative.
“Atiku is advocating a robust coalition that would accommodate all opposition parties, including the PDP. Hence, it is fallacious and unfounded to allege that the Waziri is jumping ship,” the media office stated.
The statement emphasized that Atiku remains a committed member of the PDP and dismissed any insinuations to the contrary as an attempt to mislead the public about the scale of the opposition’s grand coalition.
“Atiku remains a principal bonafide member of the PDP, the main opposition party. Any insinuation otherwise is contrived to confuse Nigerians about the magnitude of the grand coalition working to rescue Nigeria from the grip of the APC,” the media office concluded.
