The political landscape of Ondo South Senatorial District is set for a major shake-up as His Royal Highness, Dele Omosehin, the Traditional Prime Minister (Lisa) of Osooro Kingdom, officially declared his intention to contest in the 2027 general elections.
Omosehin made the announcement during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held over the weekend, which brought together prominent leaders from Okitipupa, Irele, and surrounding communities.
The event according to a statement by
Press Secretary, Olufowobi Olarewaju Desmond drew representatives from youth groups, women organisations, traditional institutions, and political stakeholders, all of whom pledged support for his ambition.
Speaking at the event, HRH Omosehin noted that his decision to seek elective office is fueled not by personal ambition but by a desire to further serve and uplift the people of Ondo South through structured governance.
“I am not driven by personal ambition, but by the growing demand for responsible, inclusive, and results-oriented leadership,” he said. “The time has come to elevate the work we’ve done and reach more people through formal representation.”

The declaration event also featured prayers from traditional leaders and rousing endorsements from various interest groups, many of whom described Omosehin as a “beacon of hope” and a “leader with a heart for the people.”
Though the specific position he plans to contest has not been disclosed, political analysts believe his entry into the race is poised to significantly influence the dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections in Ondo South.
