History was made on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the Methodist Church, Arowomole, Ogbomoso, when a moment of thanksgiving transformed into an unprecedented act of generosity and purpose. It was the birthday and appointment thanksgiving of Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole—fondly known as Wolekanle—but the celebrant did something extraordinary: he turned the celebration into a fundraiser that secured N25 million within minutes for an evangelism bus.

Bashorun Akinwole, a known philanthropist with a deeply rooted principle of giving without expecting anything in return, had come to the church to thank God for life, grace, and divine elevation. But the atmosphere shifted when the Archbishop of the Ogbomoso Diocese, Most Rev. David Moradeyo, highlighted a pressing need—the church’s evangelism mission had no operational bus.

Without a second thought, Wolekanle sprang into action.

In a rare show of leadership and love for the gospel, he began calling on friends, associates, and fellow believers right from the pews. What followed was nothing short of a miracle: in just ten minutes, a total of N25 million was raised.

Before the end of the thanksgiving service, the Archbishop confirmed that a majority of the pledges had already been redeemed. Among the notable donors were Dr. Kunle Adegbite, Otunba Lekan Akinyele, Alhaji Akibu Titilayo, Efele, Taiye Olupo,  Prince Williams  Adeleye, Hon George Ogunlade, Hon Seun Ojo, Hon Oyeniyi Timothy ,Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, Hon. Bisi Oluranti, Gbile Adeomi, Prince Bayo Owolabi, and many others—individuals who answered the call to service without hesitation.

For Wolekanle, this was more than just a fundraising feat. It was a testament to his unwavering belief in the power of evangelism and the importance of equipping the church to spread the gospel. A consistent supporter of religious institutions, he believes that one of the most profound ways to show gratitude to God is by supporting the work of the Kingdom.

His action at Arowomole will be remembered not just for the amount raised, but for the spirit of community, faith, and generosity it ignited.

In a world where many give for recognition, Wolekanle continues to give for a higher calling—a man who gives from the heart, for the work of God
