The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa I), has successfully facilitated the removal of the name of Yoruba rights activist and freedom fighter, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, from the wanted list of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The development was disclosed in a press statement issued and signed on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga.
According to the statement, the clearance granted to Sunday Igboho, which now allows him to move freely without fear of arrest, intimidation or harassment, was pronounced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, during a courtesy visit by Oba Ladoja to the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
During the visit, the Olubadan expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for honouring his coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, for approving the removal of Sunday Adeyemo’s name from the wanted list, and for the Federal Government’s support towards the eradication of insecurity in Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria at large. He also reiterated his earlier request for the creation of Ibadan State.
Oba Ladoja described President Tinubu as a leader with genuine intentions for the progress of Nigeria and urged citizens to rally round him to realise his developmental agenda.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fully determined to lead Nigeria to the promised land and ensure that the living standard of all and sundry is improved,” the monarch stated.
The Olubadan further reaffirmed his commitment to spend the rest of his life in the service of God and humanity.
Meanwhile, during a thank-you visit to the Olubadan at his residence on Ondo Street, Bodija, Ibadan, Sunday Igboho confirmed that Oba Ladoja personally informed him of his freedom.
“My father, Baba Ladoja, called me last Friday and told me that he has secured my freedom and that my name has been removed from the wanted list. He said I am now free to come home,” Igboho disclosed.
He expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for his magnanimity and to Oba Ladoja for his intervention, describing the development as a great relief. Igboho also thanked traditional rulers across Yorubaland and all supporters who stood by him during his ordeal.
Sunday Igboho was later warmly received by a large crowd of supporters and prominent personalities during his triumphant entry, marking his return to public life in Nigeria.
