Hon. Dokun Odebumi has emphasized on the importance of education on human general wellbeing. Hence the need for parents and guidance to see it as a priority legacy to be given to their wards.
He made the call while addressing congregants at the First Baptist Church, Oko, in Surulere Local government, Oyo-State during a special Thanksgiving and graduation service held in honor of Rev Dr T.S. Kolade who has just recently completed his doctoral degree in Theology.
In a his address, Dokun Odebumi who currently represents Surulere and Ogo Oluwa Federal constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values noted that Education is the social institution through which society provides its members with important knowledge, including basic facts, job skills, and cultural norms values.
In his words ‘People need a good education to be able to survive in this competitive world because modern society is based on people who have high living standards and knowledge which allows them to implement better solutions to their problems’.
He charged the congregants to pursue quality education with vigor because it is the only instrument that enables the process of the nation’s fast development. “If you have a good education, you can serve your country well through development of a good political ideology”.
He congratulated the celebrant, Rev Dr. Kolade on his rare feat and applauded members of the family and the church at large for making his decision easy and attainable. He charged the celebrant to continue to provide quality example that he is reputed for and serve as beacon of light to the coming generation who already see him as a viable role model.
The well attended service has in attendance eminent personalities among which are the Oranmiyan of Òkò himself, Ọba Solomon Olagoke Akinola, the President, Rev’d Dr Thomas Niyi Ojo, The Registrar (NBTS), Rev’d Dr. Délé Oluwole,Olumomi of Maami, HRH Oba Amos Oyetunji, and the Former President, Ogbomoso Baptist conference, Rev’d Dr I.O Olaniyan, among others.
