The former governor of Oyo State, Sen Rashidi Ladoja on Monday said that high cost of nomination form charged by the two major political parties will have negative effective on the nations economy, saying that the charges will forced politicians to embezzled public funds.
He noted that arrogance of the two major parties is becoming too much, adding that candidates should not be choose because of money but what they can offered the populate.
Speaking in his Ibadan residents, the Osi Olubadan of Ibadaland who faulted claims by the parties that their fee was to separate contenders from pretenders said the parties are encouraging their candidates to go steal after their emergence.
He said, “100million nomination form for President and 40m for governor shows arrogance to the parties, for the President, you are asked to come and take a form of 100m to seek a job of 56m, salary of a governor is about seven million in a year, which means you are going to earn 28m for the four years and you are ask to pay 50m to seek a job of 28m”.
“If other parties can also win elections in some states, the arogance of the two major political parties will go down, other political parties form is not as high as the two major once”.
“These parties should understand that they are not the Masters, peoples are the Masters, they are just stampeding people thinking that the people would vote for they either they like or not”.
Meanwhile, a leading Oyo South Senatorial hopeful under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Olooye Adegboyega Adegoke while speaking with Journalists at the house of former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja admonished Muslim faithful to continue to reflect the teaching of Ramadan in their daily activities.
Describing the month of Ramadan as a holy season which should be dedicated to the service of Allah and humanity.
The Ibadan Chief, who is a philanthropist per excellence stressed that the acts of forgiveness, piety, togetherness, alms giving and generosity must be upheld beyond the holy month of Ramadan.
Adegoke, the Aare-Onibon Balogun of Ibadanland, said Eid-el-Fitri which was begun by the holy Prophet of Islam is a special day for expressing gratitude to the Almighty Allah for all that “we are and all that we have”.
He maintained that the lessons of this period, including the virtues that the Holy month of Ramadan emphasise are worth being sustained towards making his senatorial district, state and indeed, the country at large a better place.
He however urged Muslim faithful to embrace the teachings of the holy Qu’ran and exemplary lifestyle of Prophet Muhammed in their daily endeavours, adding that the compulsory Ramadan fasting, will afford Muslims the opportunity of self appraisal in the service of Allah and humanity.
The Chief Imam of the University of Ibadan, Prof Abdulrahman Oloyede in his Eld-Fitri sermon enjoined Nigerian politicians to always remember the citizens in their dealings so that they can walk freely in society.
The Eid prayer was attended by a former governor of the state, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja; Senator Teslim Folarin, former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli; and other notable Muslims.
Oloyede, while delivering his sermon, advised the political class to shun all evil deeds, the way they shunned them during Ramadan.
The cleric, who lamented the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), insisted that politicians should remember the masses so that they can walk freely in the midst of the citizens.
The Professor of Arabic and Islamic studies at the University of Ibadan explained that it is worrisome that those in government could not find solutions to the ongoing ASUU strike which started over three months ago.
